Sam Martin

Sam Martin is a Brighton-based ceramicist and art educator with over 15 years’ experience teaching art and design. A graduate of Central Saint Martins (BA Graphic Design) and an award-winning art director, Sam is a self‑taught ceramicist whose practice combines traditional hand‑building techniques with a deep sensitivity to landscape, archaeology, and classical form. Her distinctive vessels draw inspiration from the ancient hydria and amphora of Greece and Rome. Carved surfaces echo the flowing patterns of river meanders, chalk paths, and historical mapping, recalling both the Sussex landscape and the rhythmic markings found in cartography.

Each piece is made from white earthenware and finished with an engobe glaze.
