My practice explores the representation of women through painting, focusing on the details, objects, and moments that shape female experience. Drawing inspiration from literature, film, photography, and contemporary visual culture, I am interested in how women have historically been portrayed and how these narratives continue to influence the way we see ourselves and others.

Research is central to my process. Through reading, feminist theory, and visual analysis, I investigate the ways women have been framed within cultural narratives, often as passive figures or symbolic devices rather than fully realised individuals. This research informs paintings that offer alternative perspectives, centering women as active participants in their own stories.

Working primarily in oil paint, I focus on intimate fragments and overlooked details, a gesture, a personal object, or a fleeting interaction. These cropped moments encourage viewers to construct their own narratives while questioning the assumptions we bring to images of women. By drawing attention to what is often dismissed as insignificant, I explore themes of identity, memory, performance, and agency.

My recent work examines contemporary female experiences through scenes of friendship, ritual, and nightlife. Inspired by the visual language of photography and social media, these paintings blur the line between documentation and fiction, capturing moments that feel both personal and familiar.

Through my practice, I aim to create work that encourages reflection on how women are represented in visual culture and how alternative narratives can emerge through observation, reinterpretation, and painting.
