Kyle Hawkins

Born and raised in East Ham, East London. He currently lives and works in South London.

Kyle studied and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting from Gloucestershire University in 1998. Since then, he has exhibited numerous times. Previous exhibitions have included most recently being part of The Artists in Public Service (AiPS) exhibition held at the Peggy Jay Gallery inside Burgh House, Hampstead. He has also previously had a solo pop-up exhibition in Notting Hill, as well as being part of numerous group shows. In addition, he takes on regular bespoke painting and drawing commissions for clients.

Predominantly a landscape artist, he paints in oils and his work is influenced and inspired by artists such as Harald Sohlberg, Turner, Hockney and Peter Doig to name but a few. His work concentrates and explores colour and form, it’s inducement of an emotive and affective response. Compositions that create a space, an environment that conveys an ethereal atmosphere. Each new painting is a search for something that feels both familiar and otherworldly. Kyle has always been drawn to works of art that create a meditative state and aims to capture that same quiet intensity within his own practice.
