Kathryn Hobden

Painter, Artist Educator and Co-Founder Neweira Gallery.

Kathryn Hobden is based in Southeast London and trained at the Royal College of Art (1997-1999) where she developed her passion for expressing landscape through a creative lens under the tuition of Peter Doig. Her work blends the precision and craft of the photorealist tradition with a painter’s sensitivity to light, space and atmosphere. She was included in John Moore’s 21 at the Walker Art Gallery, nominated for the Gilchrist Fisher Award and recently has showcased work at the Greenwich Gallery.

Alongside painting from 2006 - 2025 Kathryn was teaching throughout London and Southeast England promoting art and creativity to A-Level and GCSE pupils, developing their confidence, skills, and ability to refine their work.

In July 2025, Kathryn left teaching to focus full time on her painting and recently co -founded Neweira Gallery, Westerham which showcases and supports international, London and local artists as well as serving as a creative hub for art workshops and events to share art practice for the local community.
