Hilary Shields

Hilary is fascinated with the properties of glass and the numerous techniques and processes to be explored and experimented with.  She makes kiln-formed and leaded items and likes to combine pattern, texture and vibrant colours.  

 

Recently she has explored the technique of pressed glass to create abstract imagery and create pieces with a pleasing matt surface finish.

 

Although based in Kent, Hilary spends a number of weeks each year in Fife, Scotland and takes inspiration from the coastline, plant-life and landscape there.
